Taos in a Box

Don't judge me, but this was my little boy at 9 pm tonight. Face covered in licorice and hair overgrown and uncombed.

Living in a box.

Just teasing, he doesn't live there, but he did think it was fun to hang out in. Makes you wonder what he was thinking.

Was he a race car driver or an astronaut. Or did he just love that it was the perfect size for his cute little butt to sit in.

I tell you, all the money we've wasted buying toys.

I love babies!

I am so happy to announce the birth of Micah, my new nephew. He was born today around 3:30 pm, weighed 7 lbs 11 oz, 21 inches long, healthy bouncing baby boy. I would like to be the first to say congrats to...Isaac on his new baby brother.

No pics of the baby or the mommy at this time because, lets be honest, those kinda things are only for family to see. Not the world wide web, you know?

The Problem with Rain

These stormy clouds bring a sense of dread. I worried all night last Thursday about clouds like these. As many people in this area can tell you, this has been the wettest spring/summer that most can even remember. While in a drought year, we would be praying for rain, this year we just need a break. Not just because rain can be wet, cold, and depressing, but because of the hay.

This is how understand the process to work...Before hay can be baled, it must dry. Drying time can vary depending on the temperature, the humidity, the amount of hay after it is cut (common sense right). If the hay gets rained on the day after its cut, little harm is done. If the rain comes really any later then that you run the risk of MOLD. Whole crops have had to be baled and destroyed this year because of mold.

Fortunately, our hay was baled Thursday evening. We can all breath a sigh of relief.

As long as it was dry and not baled too wet, we made it. If the hay still needed more drying time, there is a risk that the bales may spontaneously combust, and start a fire that could take more than just the hay. Again, the way I understand it, if the hay isn't dry enough there will still be water that could evaporate in the heat. The hay is bound so tightly there isn't any room for these gases to escape, and the pressure and heat ignites the hay. I'm sure you can imagine how the damage this would cause.

Now that you've been educated on the problem with rain, I can go back to worrying.

Summer Fun

The summer after Tyke was born, my parents took the boat out quite a few times. On a few occasions we made it up to Bear Lake. The water is so beautiful, clear, and COLD! Yet I still thought it would be great to take my 3 month old son to the lake.

Doesn't he look like he's having a blast.

He finally got used to the water. I have many good memories of Bear Lake and boating. Hopefully when the boys are a OLDER we can make some memories with them too.
TJ hates the water, so we might have to work around that.

Happy Father's Day!

TJ is such a great dad. He really loves his boys. And they would do anything to get to go with daddy. He lets them come every once and a while and pretend to drive and get a treat at the gas station. Little do they know its all a trick.

They better enjoy it while they can. We just had to kids so we don't have to do all the work around here. These boys are going to learn to work hard just like their dad. Poor little guys don't even know whats coming.

Tyke works the gate

Tyke was just doing everything he could to get out to the horses in the pasture today. So TJ helped him bring the horses in to the round pen and Tyke opened the gate.

And stood in the way. The whole family was standing at the fence calling for him to move, and he wouldn't budge.
Until this red gelding started right for him. Then he couldn't move fast enough.

Once he got close enough Tyke didn't think he was scary. I just chose to ignore him.

He just stood in front of him kicking dirt.

The poor confused horse tried one last time to get through the gate.

Tyke gave in and they all started coming through.

Then Cuervo spotted me at the fence.

I'd like to think that he remembered me and was just coming to say hello. But I'm pretty sure he wanted to eat my camera.
Way to go Tyke!! You are a such a great helper.
